A Whole New World

Wow, where to begin. I am new to the whole blog world but I figure if my mom can do it surely I can do it to. You see my mom loves dishes, she loves to set tables for every season. Her blog cathyscupboardcalamity.blogspot.com tells you all about all her dishes.  So I though I would start sharing my love of crafting. I do a little bit of everything. You never know what I will come up with.

Three years ago I bought a Cricut Expression. Every one in my family thought I was crazy for spending money on that cause I would never use it.......little did they know the obsession it has created. I now own not only the original expression but the Cricut Expression 2 and just recently got a very good deal on a Cricut Imagine that I just couldn't pass up. I love my cricuts, I love the things I can create this year. I mainly spend my time making cards. I do some scrapbooking, will be doing more very soon since I am getting married in March.......

I decided this year to make my own Christmas Cards.  While I was creating 48 cards I decided to take pictures of every step mainly so I would remember what to do. The more I thought about it the more I thought it would be a great time to start a blog. Even if no one but my mom ever reads it. It will be fun for me.

Here is my completed card.

I started with a 10 x 5 piece of card stock. You then fold it in half to make a 5x5 square card.

I then cut a 4 3/8 x 4 3/8 piece of pattern coordinating cardstock to go on top.

In a solid color coordinating card stock you will need to cut a 4 3/8 x 2  to place on the bottom of your first square.

I always tend to place a ribbon over the edge to slightly cover up where the two cardstocks meet. I always use the cheater meathod that I learned from the master My Pink Stamper. I love using this because I tend not to waste so much ribbon.

Once I have all that ready I picked my cut for the front of the card. On this card I used Winter Frolic and filled in using my Imagine and the Mr. Frosty cartridge. I cut my trees at 4.3 on the imagine. I used two different patterns from Mr. Frosty so both trees would not be the same. It makes it very handy if you are making more than one card cause then you can cut 4 trees and make two sets .

Once you have the trees on the front of you card you will then cut another length of ribbon and then just tie a knot to make it look like a little bow.

Then using a Scrappy Mom's Stamp set a stamped a cute little Christmas saying in the corner. I used the Stampin' Up Chocolate Chip Stamp Pad.

So there you have it. My first blog post. It took awhile but it was fun. You know there is always a learning curve when you do something for the first time.

Thanks again for checking out my blog and come back for new things.
